SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After sweeping Southwestern on Wednesday, Valor Volleyball returned home to take on the Sterling College Warriors. A strong effort from Evangel resulted in a second consecutive sweep, defeating the Warriors in straight sets, 3-0.
Evangel and Sterling played a tight start to set one, but a 4-0 run from the Valor after trailing 5-6 gave EU a 9-6 lead. Sharayah Seymour provided a spark in the set to keep the Valor ahead of Sterling, recording five kills after the run to help guide Evangel to a 25-17 win in set one.
Set two proved to be a battle between both teams. Neither team could jump out to much of a lead and although Evangel was able to get out to a 24-21 lead over Sterling, the Warriors did not back down. Sterling scored a trio of points to even the score, but strong Evangel defense forced the Warriors into a pair of attacking errors, giving the Valor a 26-24 win in set two.
Evangel dominated set three, swinging .262 to Sterling's -.024 in the set. Sterling and Evangel were tied 5-5 to open the set, but a 8-0 run with three kills coming from Bella Wakley helped the Valor jump out to a 13-5 lead.
