MCPHERSON, Kan. – After falling at home to nationally ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan, Evangel Volleyball capped off their gauntlet of games, traveling to McPherson to take on the 20th ranked Bulldogs. Despite winning the first two sets on Saturday, Evangel could not take the elusive third set, falling in a narrow five set battle, 2-3.

Evangel led for the entire first set, swinging well and forcing the Bulldogs into several errors. Loran Pritchett had a strong performance in the set, recording seven kills to help guide Evangel to a 25-20 victory in the first set of the evening.

The Valor fought in set two, as McPherson put up a battle, looking to even the score. A back and forth set saw Evangel trail 21-23 late, but the Valor offense pushed themselves to the finish line, as kills from Bella Wakley, Sharayah Seymour, Loran Pritchett, and two errors on the Bulldogs gave EU a 26-24 win.

McPherson began to turn the tide in the third set. After jumping out to a 12-17 lead, Evangel drew back within a point, 17-18, but could not take the comeback in the third set, falling 22-25, despite out swinging the Bulldogs offense (.186 to .152).

In set four, the feeling of momentum swinging towards the Bulldogs was evident. Despite the set starting close, 13-13, McPherson generated a run to take a 13-18 lead over EU. The 5-0 run proved detrimental in the set, as EU came as close as a pair of points, but fell 22-25.

In the fifth and final set, McPherson jumped out to an early 6-3 lead, in the race to 15 points. The Valor fought to take a 10-9 lead over the Bulldogs on a Loran Pritchett kill, but ultimately, Evangel could not keep their slim lead, as attacking errors and kills from the McPherson squad capped off the game, with EU falling, 11-15.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Loran Pritchett recorded 22 kills in the loss on Saturday to lead the Valor.

• Jessica Pritchett led the team with 55 assists on Saturday, a career high.

• Kenna Wise led the team with 28 digs.

• Vivianna Sanchez and Sharayah Seymour finished with five blocks each.

• Evangel fell in their second straight game, the first time this season.
