SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Volleyball played host to longtime rival, College of the Ozarks, on Friday (Oct. 27) evening, looking to bounce back after a loss earlier in the week and a loss to C of O earlier in the season. The Valor displayed a strong game on both sides of the ball, dominating from the beginning of the match, sweeping the Bobcats, 3-0.
Set one began similar to how it did when the two teams met at C of O earlier in the year. Back and forth play and several lead changes highlighted the set. With the Valor trailing 13-12, Evangel would use a 6-0 run consisting of a pair of kills from Vivianna Sanchez and a kill from Bella Wakley, to take a 18-13 lead. The Bobcats were unable to mount a run of their own, as a Sharayah Seymour kill gave the Valor a 25-19 win in set one.
An early 4-0 run for Evangel would be exactly what the Valor needed in the set, as C of O would only come within a single point with the score 4-3. Three kills by Bella Wakley, Mallory Dick, and Mackenzie Stoner in the set would push Evangel to a large 25-14 win in the set.
C of O hit several attacking errors in the final set and Evangel's defense showed up in a big way. With Evangel leading 5-2, five of the next seven points would come from blocks from Mallory Dick and Vivianna Sanchez. The Valor continued to dominate in the set, leaving nothing to question in the final score, as Sanchez capped off the sweep of C of O with a kill, 25-11.
