OTTAWA, Kan. – Valor Volleyball concluded their two game road trip on Wednesday (Oct. 25) evening, traveling to Ottawa, who were ranked #25 in the nation on Wednesday morning. Despite hanging tough in every set, the Valor were ultimately swept, 3-0, against the nationally ranked squad.
After trailing 9-6 to open the first set, Evangel made a 5-0 run to take a 11-9 lead over Ottawa on kills by Allison Thomas, Sharayah Seymour, and Mallory Dick. The run forced a Ottawa timeout, as the Braves were successfully able to stop the EU run and generate a run of their own. Ottawa's 6-1 run to respond proved to be the difference in the set, as Evangel could not overcome the Braves lead, falling 25-21 in set one.
Ottawa took the lead early in set two and would never give it up in the set, as the closest the Valor would get would be an 8-8 tie in the set. Evangel would come as close as down a pair of points in the set, but could not generate a comeback, falling 25-20 in set two.
Several Bella Wakley kills to open set three helped Evangel take a lead over the Braves. It appeared that the Valor offense had come alive in the final set, as EU would take an 18-14 lead in the set. The Braves would not let the Valor take a win easily though, as Ottawa fought to keep the game close. All knotted up at 19-19, Ottawa would go on a 4-1 run that EU could not overcome, as the Valor fell in straight sets to Ottawa, 25-22.
