Valor Men's Soccer Looks to Upset OKWU on Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After their third consecutive tie in conference play, Valor Men's Soccer plays host to the nationally ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Wednesday (Oct. 11) evening at 7:30 p.m., looking to earn a win. 

OPENING STORYLINES 

  • Evangel and Bethel tied on Wednesday night, giving Evangel their fourth tie of the season.

  • Oklahoma Wesleyan was ranked 11th in the last top 25 coaches poll.

  • The Valor have scored 23 goals this season, compared to just six goals by the opponents, which is tied for seventh in the nation for the least amount of goals allowed. 

  • Ted Okoroh leads Evangel in goals and assists this season, currently with five and six, respectively. Okoroh is tied for 33rd in the nation in assists (6).

  • Twelve different athletes have recorded goals this season for Evangel, including Ruben Gonzalez, who scored his first goal on Saturday.

  • Evangel is currently averaging 2.30 goals per game and are allowing just 0.60 goals per game, the seventh best defensive mark in the nation.

  • Evangel and Oklahoma Wesleyan compete in their first ever matchup all-time.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel hits the road on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon to take on the McPherson Bulldogs in McPherson, Kansas at 2:30 p.m.
