CANTON, Mo. – Valor Men's Soccer broke their drought of scoreless games on Saturday against Culver-Stockton, but ultimately fell to the Wildcats as a goal in the final 10 minutes gave CSC the win, 2-1.

Although the Valor outshot the Wildcats, Evangel continued their previous struggles of scoring the ball. After a pair of Lucas Arias shots on goal, Culver capitalized on a free kick, scoring the first goal of the game. The Valor were able to record several more shots on goal, but by the end of the first half, Evangel continued to trail, 1-0.

Evangel continued to put pressure on the Culver defense and ultimately, the Valor were able to score the equalizer. At the 61:07 mark, Evangel's Elias Lairmore nailed a free kick in the back left corner of the goal to even the score, 1-1. After scoring the goal, the Evangel offense turned up their offensive pace and Rem Harmsworth nearly grabbed the lead, but his shot was saved by the CSC goalkeeper. The Wildcats found several chances on goal after Harmsworth's shot and after hitting the ball off the crossbar, Culver was able to put a shot on goal to take a 2-1 lead at the 79:04 mark. The Valor were able to record several more shots in the final 10 minutes, but the damage had been done as Culver-Stockton took the 2-1 victory.

• Evangel outshot the Wildcats, 15-12, in the loss.

• Culver and Evangel both recorded three corners in the game.

• Lairmore scored his first goal of the season and of his career in the loss.

• Arias led the Valor charge with two shots on goal.
