BETHANY, Kan. – Bethany tallied a pair of first-half goals and rode a strong defensive effort to a 3-0 victory over the Evangel men's soccer club Tuesday afternoon at the Anderson Athletic Complex.
Kevin Sithole scored the first goal of the afternoon in the 16th minute of play, before Tanner Williams added the first of his two goals in the 32nd minute. Juan Pablo stopped seven Evangel shots on goal to complete the shutout victory.
Highlights
- Sithole scored an unassisted goal—his second of the season—with 29:57 left on the first-half clock to put Bethany on top for good
- Williams registered his first two goals of the season to account for the final score; he found the net with 13:39 to play in the first off of assists by Eric Niyonzima and Abraham Arrieta, then scored in the 65th minute to cap the scoring
- Pablo stopped all seven shots on goal he faced to improve to 4-1 on the season
- EU was led by Luis Schaffner-Albano and Leonardo Borges, who logged two shots on goal apiece
- Anthony Morales made seven saves in goal for EU
- Bethany finished with a 20-13 overall advantage in shots, while EU finished with an 8-1 edge in corner kicks
