SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After Caleb Dix scored the equalizing goal for Evangel in the 70th minute, Benedictine's Girma Kassa chipped in the game-winner with just 1:47 left in regulation to lift the Ravens to a 2-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory Saturday evening at Coryell Field.
Dix headed a rebound into the net after Vinicius Albino's shot bounced off the crossbar, knotting the score at 1-1 with 20:41 to play.
Battling down to the wire, the Ravens delivered the key blow in the 89th minute when Daniel Wee fed Kassa, who drove a shot home from 12 yards out to put Benedictine on top to stay.
Highlights
- Robert Mike Keon opened the scoring for BC in the 22nd minute, delivering his third goal of the season
- Kassa, who registered his ninth goal of the year with the game-winner, led all players with six shots on the night and four shots on goal
- Both Wee and Keon added four shots for the Ravens
- Four Valor attackers logged two shots in the contest, including Albino, who also was credited with an assist on Dix's first goal of the year
