SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team heads north for a rematch with Mount Mercy on Saturday afternoon in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel trails Mount Mercy 1-4 all-time in the short series as the Mustangs won the first meeting this season in December, 93-74.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel heads back to Iowa Saturday to face Mount Mercy with seven games left only three are at home inside the Ashcroft Center. The Crusaders look to avenge a lopsided 93-74 loss to the Mustangs back in December as Mount Mercy leads the all-time series 4-1.
► After Wednesday night's four-point win, Evangel has played 11 games within 10 points or less. Among those 11 games, the Crusaders are 4-7 in closing out tight ball games.
► With 58 rebounds per game freshman, Cade Coffman ranks 15th in the league in rebounding. He leads all freshmen in the conference and is second among underclassmen behind Mount Mercy's Dennis McKinney (6.0rpg) a sophomore.
► The format for the 2019 Heart Postseason Tournament will again be hosted by the highest seed during each round with seeds 7-10 playing first-round games March 5. The championship will be March 12 as the tournament champion earns the league's first auto berth with the regular season champ earning the second auto bid to the national tournament.
Evangel continues road action with a midweek matchup next Wednesday at the No. 3 team in NAIA Division I men's basketball, Benedictine. Tipoff from Atchison, Kansas is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
