SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team returns home Wednesday night to host Culver-Stockton in a midweek Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel won the first meeting between the two schools on Jan. 3. with a big second half finishing an 89-71 victory. The Crusaders also increased their lead in the all-time series, 53-21
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel returns to the Ashcroft Center to host Culver-Stockton and look for a season sweep of the Wildcats. The Crusaders took the first meeting in Canton, Mo. 89-71 behind hot shooting in the second half.
► After Wednesday night's three-point loss at MidAmerica Nazarene, Evangel has played 10 games within 10 points or less. Among those 10 games, the Crusaders are 3-7 in closing out tight ball games.
► Since the start of the new year, Evangel has been tough on the glass. The Crusaders have only been out-rebounded four times in nine games. During that time freshmen,
Ike Egwu (6.4 rpg) and
Cade Coffman (5.8 rpg) have led Evangel in rebounding.
Evangel heads back to Iowa for a rematch with Mount Mercy. Tipoff from Cedar Rapids, Iowa is scheduled for 2 p.m.
