SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel men's basketball return home Saturday for Senior Day against Grand View University.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel leads the all-time series 7-2 after Grand View won the first meeting 87-61 in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 5. The win for the Vikings snapped a three-game win streak for Evangel in the brief series.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel returns to the Ashcroft Center for Senior Day and the second meeting with Grand View. The Vikings earned just their second win in the short series in Jan. behind hot-shooting for an 87-61 victory snapping a three-game skid to the Crusaders.
► Evangel will honor four seniors on Saturday: Luke Call (Mt. Vernon), Jacob Smith (Winona), Chandler Lyon (Ozark), and Braden Adams (Mt. Vernon). Adams missed the season due to an injury in the preseason, while Lyon has been limited to five games due to injury as well. Smith is having a career-high in scoring and rebounds, while Call is one three-pointer shy of 100.
► This season Evangel has played 11 games within 10 points or less. Among those 11 games, five have been decided by five points or less while the Crusaders overall are 4-7 in closing out tight ball games.
► Saturday's game will conclude this season's broadcast package with Mediacom where the game will be rebroadcast throughout Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas, on Mediacom 22 on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday starting at 7 p.m.
► The format for the 2019 Heart Postseason Tournament will again be hosted by the highest seed during each round with seeds 7-10 playing first-round games March 5. The championship will be March 12 as the tournament champion earns the league's first auto berth with the regular season champ earning the second auto bid to the national tournament.
