SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 98th all-time meeting between the Evangel men's basketball team and College of the Ozarks tips off Tuesday for the Rib Crib Highway 65 Shootout in Point Lookout, Missouri.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel leads the all-time series 52-46 as the Bobcats won the first meeting in Springfield 78-72. The win in Springfield for CofO was uncharacteristic of the series as last year the home team won each meeting.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel heads to College of the Ozarks for the 98th all-time meeting between the two Southwest Missouri rivals. CofO took the first game in Springfield, 78-72, behind a pair of 20-point efforts.
► Tuesday's loss at Baker was just the fourth by more than 10 points this season. The Crusaders have also played their fourth-ranked team in five games as both MidAmerica Nazarene and Peru State were ranked or receiving votes in the Coaches Top 25.
► Four freshmen have worked their way into the rotation for Evangel and each has taken turns leading the Crusaders in scoring.
Cade Coffman led the Crusaders Saturday against Peru State with 20 points, while
Ike Egwu was the leading scorer on Thursday and
Edriel Martinborough earning honors on Tuesday. Coffman leads the group averaging 10 points per game.
► Junior
Clark Brewington (Pocahontas, Ark.) still leads Evangel in scoring at 14.4 points per game. Brewington is just five threes away from 100 for his career and would be the 24th Crusader to make 100 three's in a career as he enters with 26 this season after a career-best 42 last season.
