SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The third game of the week for the Evangel men's basketball team commences Saturday against Peru State.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel leads the brief series with Peru State, 8-6 as the Crusaders and Bobcats meet on Saturday. Last season Peru State won the only meeting 85-79 in Nebraska.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel looks to snap a six-game skid in search of its first Heart of America win in 2018. The Crusaders have played one of the toughest schedules not only in the Heart but in the nation with seven of the first eight games coming against teams ranked in the Top 25 or receiving votes in the Coaches Poll.
► Evangel and the Bobcats have met just 14 times that also include Peru State joined the Heart of America in 2011.
► Junior
Clark Brewington (Pocahontas, Ark.) continues to be the elder statesman for Evangel leading the way with 15 points per game. He also leads the team shooting 41 percent from behind the three-point line.
► Evangel has seen its four freshmen emerge in crucial roles for the Crusaders.
Cade Coffman leads Evangel in rebounding at 6.1 boards per game, while
Pavel Antonov averages 7.5 points per game and
Edriel Martinborough made his first appearance in the starting lineup Tuesday.
Ike Egwu rounds out the group after leading Evangel 12 points in the last game.
LOOKING AHEAD
Evangel finishes a busy week on Saturday with another quick turnaround against Peru State. Tipoff from the Ashcroft Center on Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
