SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team opens a three-game road swing Saturday at Heart North Division opponent Peru State.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel starts a three-game road trip and is coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since Dec. 5. The Crusaders head to Peru State where they lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer last season.
► Justin Washington (Springfield, Mo.) is coming off his second 30-point game this season after helping Evangel in a win over Benedictine. Dylan Bekemeier (Republic, Mo.) added 23 points, as it was the second time this season the duo scored at least 20 points.
► Washington recorded his seventh double-double of the year 30 points and 16 rebounds. The freshman ranks 8th nationally and second in the Heart with 9.5 rebounds per game. He also leads Evangel with 17.4 ppg and ranks 10th in the conference.
► Of the 14 losses for Evangel this season, only five have been more than 10 points. In addition, in the 14 losses, six have been by four points or less and all nine of the single-digit losses have been by fewer than eight points.
LOOKING AHEAD
Evangel takes a mid-week trip to Baker in Heart South Division action. Tipoff from Baldwin City, Kansas, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
