SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Evangel men's soccer team battled with the No. 16 team in the nation Tuesday afternoon, Central Methodist, before falling, 2-0, in conference action.

The Crusaders hung with one of the nation's top teams Tuesday but was unable to find the net in a 2-0 shutout. CMU managed to score late in the first half for the first goal of the game on a Guzman Perry goal in the 35th minute.

Evangel finished with just five shots as the Eagles tallied 18 in the match with 12 coming on goal. 

Goalkeeper Josiah Dinwiddie finished with nine saves in the loss for Evangel.

Evangel returns to Coryell Field Saturday to play host to Culver-Stockton. Action is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
