CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Evangel University men's soccer team saw its four match win streak snapped Saturday in a 3-1 loss at Mount Mercy in Heart of America Conference action.
The Crusaders and Mustangs battled in the first half to a 1-1 tie. The scoring started when Marco Fichtner put Mount Mercy on the board first in the 24th minute off a long cross from 30-yards out.
Evangel then tied the match in the 39th minute as Dakota Nelson powered a goal into the lower right corner of the net. John De La Torre earned the assist on the Crusaders only goal.
The second half saw the Mustangs break the tie in the 62nd minute on a goal from Sassan Sirot. The home team would then extend its lead in the 87th minute on a goal from James Conversano to seal the win.
