SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University men's soccer team scored early and often Thursday night, as the Crusaders picked up their first win since restarting the program last season with a 15-1 win over Baptist Bible College. 

Kyler Moore started the scoring for Evangel with goals in the 4th minute and again in the 5th minute. The lead would increase to 3-0 just a minute later when Dakota Nelson pushed through a goal from Austin Reinhold. 

After Thomas Burkhardt's goal in the 13th minute, the Crusaders got their most exciting goal off a header from Riley Burr on an assist through Dom Federici. Federici finished the match with three assists while Burkhardt tallied six goals in the win. 

The Patriots only goal came from Mark Schouten on a free kick from 15 yards out as the ball found the corner of the net. 

Seven different Crusaders scored in the match led by Burkhardt's six. The 15 goals by Evangel also set a NAIA team high for goals scored breaking the previous high set Aug. 26 by Asbury.

- Evangel scored 15 goals setting a single season high for all NAIA teams surpassing the previous high of 12 scored by Asbury on Aug. 26.

- Thomas Burkhardt's six goals is the most for any NAIA player in a match so far this season. It was also four short of the NAIA single-game record.

- Dom Federici finished with three assists tying the NAIA single match high for the 2016 season.

- The Crusaders tallied 39 shots in the match to the Patriots' five. The 39 for Evangel are the most by any team in the nation this year.

Evangel returns to action Saturday against Williams Baptist in a double-header at the Cooper Soccer Complex. Action is scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
