COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Evangel University men's basketball team continued its winning ways Thursday night rallying for a 66-63 win over Vanguard in the Assemblies of God Classic.

The Crusaders won their third straight game as they rallied from a nine-point deficit to knock off the host team Vanguard.

With 8:54 left in the game, Cody Geiger extended his made free throw streak to 18 straight before missing the back end. However, the free throw gave the Crusaders a 51-50 lead they would not relinquish.

After a three-pointer from Richard Chapman with 5:11 left in the game Evangel looked in control with a 64-54 lead. Chapman finished with 14 points and three assists in the win.

Evangel managed to hold Vanguard to just 34 percent shooting from the field as the Crusaders also out-rebounded the host school, 32-28.

Also finishing in double figures for the Crusaders, Marcus Miller tallied 12 points while Dylan Bekemeier added six assists.

Vanguard was led by Malachi Hoosein who finished with a game-high 16 points.
