ATCHISON, Kan. – The Evangel men's soccer team fell to the league's second place team, Benedictine, 3-0 Saturday night in the regular-season finale. 

Evangel was able to hang tight with the Ravens through the entire 90 minutes, however, two goals from a pair of free kicks helped the hosts edge EU. The Crusader defense held tough in the first half despite the two goals from Benedictine. 

The Ravens outshot the Crusaders 9-2 as the first goal came in the 17th minute. Benedictine would take a 2-0 lead into halftime with a goal in the 30th minute from Adam James. 

Galen Gossman made it a 3-0 lead for the Ravens with he scored off a free kick in the 70th minute of action. 

Goalkeeper Ryan Harrisskitt finished with seven saves in the match while Josiah Dinwiddie also saw action and tallied one save.

Evangel ends its season at 5-13 overall and 1-11 in conference play. The second season of soccer saw the Crusaders take big strides that included the program's first win since restarting last year. 

The first win was record setting in numerous ways that included the largest goal total (15) and most goals scored by an individual (6). After the first win, Evangel also posted its first four-game winning streak that saw wins over LSU-Alexandria and NCAA Division II Louisiana College. 

Evangel also earned its first ever Heart win on Oct. 15 with a 2-1 victory over Clarke University.
