SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Caleb Rodriguez scored a goal in the 84th minute to help give the Evangel men's soccer team its first conference victory, 2-1, Saturday over Clarke. 

A pass from Kyler Moore set-up Rodriguez to score what was the game-winning goal with just minutes left in the game for Evangel's first win at Coryell Field. The win was also the program's first Heart of America Conference victory. 

After a scoreless first half from both teams, Evangel broke open the game with a goal from Dom Federici in the 66th minute. Federici scored his second goal of the season on an assist from Shan Smahon giving EU a 1-0 lead. 

The excitement would continue in the final five minutes after Rodriguez's game-winning goal, Clarke would get on the scoreboard just before the final horn with a goal from Jordan Perry. However, the late goal would be all the visitors could manage as Evangel held off Clarke for the 2-1 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE                     
- Caleb Rodriguez scored his fifth goal of the season and now has the second most points for Evangel with 13.

- After the goal from Dom Federici, the Milford, Conn., native has eight points this season and two goals.

- Ryan Harrisskitt recorded five saves in goal for Evangel.

- Evangel out-shot Clarke, 20-9, with 10 shots coming on goal for EU.

Evangel continues conference Wednesday as they head to Central Methodist. Action for the women's game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
