Springfield, Mo. – Evangel men's soccer fell in Heart of America conference play 10-0 to Avila on Saturday afternoon in their first homecoming game since 1974.
Avila scored four goals in the first half and six in the second. Mike Hufker and Daniel Galley led the way for the Eagles, scoring a hat trick a piece. Evangel had few chances after the first 20 minutes, with the best chance for the Crusaders coming off a strike from Austin Reinold that was saved.
Prior to the game, Evangel honored some alumni from the previous incarnation of Evangel men's soccer which played from 1968 to 1974.
With the loss, Evangel falls to 0-9 and 0-5 in the conference. Avila improved their record to 3-9 and 2-4 in the conference.
Evangel is next in action on Saturday, October 10th when they host Culver-Stockton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
