Men's Soccer drops home match to Culver-Stockton 4-0

Springfield, Mo. – Evangel men's soccer had some scoring chances in the first half but came up empty in a 4-0 loss to Culver-Stockton Saturday at Cooper Stadium in Springfield.

Culver-Stockton took the lead through a Dominic Caruso goal in the 20th minute. Evangel was able to keep possession and were rewarded with good scoring chances. None were better than in the 38th minute, when Kyler Moore was brought down by Culver goalkeeper Jason Ebbing in the box. Ebbing was shown a yellow card on the penalty but was able to save Moore's ensuing penalty kick. The Wildcats held their 1-0 lead into halftime. 

The Wildcats sealed the victory with three goals in the second half. Caruso scored twice more to complete his hat trick. Substitute Deron Joe scored the fourth and final goal off of a deflected shot in the box. Evangel goalkeeper Adrian Plascencia made 15 saves on the night helping keep the Crusaders in the game. 

With the loss, Evangel's record drops to 0-10 on the season with a 0-6 record in the Heart of America conference. Culver-Stockton improved to 6-6-1, and 2-2-1 in the conference. 

Evangel is next in action on Wednesday, October 14th when they travel to Marshall, Missouri for a Heart of America Conference matchup with 9th ranked Missouri Valley. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00pm.
