Olathe, Kansas – Evangel women's basketball team lost to #14 MidAmerica Nazarene 56-53 at the Bell Family Arena Thursday night.
The Crusaders were led by sophomore Allison Swanson with a game high 19 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore Samantha Williams added a season high 11 points and sophomore Taylor Longley added 12 points for Evangel in the loss.
The Pioneers were led by Kyleesha Weston with 18 points and a game high 12 rebounds. Tristin Wicks added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
The Crusaders shot 32% from the field and 21% from three point land. MidAmerica shot 39% from the field and 13.5% from three. The Crusaders were outrebounded by the Pioneers 44-37 and had an edge in the turnover battle 13-12. The Crusaders shot 13 of 18 (72%) from the free throw line, while the Pioneers shot 13 for 29 (44.8%).
Evangel dropped to 3-8 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. MidAmerica Nazarene improved to 11-4 and 4-0 in the HAAC.
Evangel will see action again when they host Graceland University at the Ashcroft Center Saturday. Game time is 2:00pm.
