Springfield, Mo. – Peru State's Corday Sims hit a three-point basket with 1.1 seconds remaining that broke an 83-83 tie and helped the Bobcats to an 86-83 win over Evangel at the Ashcroft Center Saturday.

The Crusaders and Bobcats exchanged three-point baskets in the game's final minute. Peru State's Jamar Cannon hit a three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining giving the Bobcats an 83-80 lead. Evangel's Nick Yocum answered with a three with 23 seconds left tying the game.

Korry Tillery led Evangel with 23 points and had 10 rebounds for his 12^th double-double of the season. Richard Chapman added 16.

Sims led Peru State with 18 points. John Ruffin had 17 and Cannon added 15 for the Bobcats.

Evangel led 45-39 at the half but were outscored in the second half 47-38 as the Peru State shot 59 percent from the field in the second half.

"I can't fault our defense on the last play," said Evangel head coach Steve Jenkins. "I thought Brodie Wingert was right on Sims, but he just made the shot. I can fault some of our possessions. I thought we were too quick to look for shots and weren't patient enough."

The loss was Evangel's first home loss in the conference. The Crusaders dropped to 14-8 and 9-2 in the Heart of America conference. Peru State improved to 13-9 and 6-5. Evangel maintained a one-game conference lead in the standings after Avila's 86-79 win at second place Benedictine on Saturday.

Evangel is idle until next Saturday when they travel to Culver-Stockton. Game time is 4 p.m. in Canton, Mo.
