OMAHA, Neb. – Evangel Volleyball concluded their nine-game road trip on Saturday (Sept. 5), looking to close out the CSM Labor Day Classic with a pair of wins. The Valor could not take a set against Viterbo, falling 3-0 to the Red Hawks, and took just one set against former HAAC foe, Peru State, falling 3-1, in their finale.

A late run for Viterbo made all the difference in set one, as the Valor and Red Hawks would sit tied up at 16-16, before Viterbo went on a 9-3 run to close the set, resulting in a 25-19 loss for EU in set one.

Evangel never led in set two, as the Valor swung .161 to Viterbo's .355 attacking percentage. Charlotte Hawkins and Jessica Pritchett would swing efficiently on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Red Hawks took a two set lead, 25-14.

Viterbo and Evangel would hit their strongest hitting percentage of the match (.462 - .320), but the Valor again could not string together a large enough run to fuel any comeback attempt, falling 25-19 in set three.

The Valor continued their Saturday with a tough start against Peru State, as the Bobcats grabbed an early lead over EU. Evangel scored most of their points in the set on PSU service and attacking errors, but a negative attacking percentage from the Valor forced a loss in the set, 25-16.

Evangel was able to use an early run using several kills from Cienna Turner and Simone Johnson to lead 20-12. Brooke Daniels closed the set with a pair of service aces to give the Valor a 25-17 win in set two, tying the game at 1-1.

Despite coming out hot to open the third set and leading 9-4, Evangel's defense was unable to stop Peru State from going on an extended 21-7 run in the period, falling 25-16 in set three.

The Valor never led in set four but did battle to draw back within two points of the lead, after Peru State opened the set on a 9-5 run. Hawkins and Turner helped the Valor fight to close the set, but it was too late, as EU fell, 25-19.
