Evangel eleventh-year head coach Chuck Hepola enters Saturday's contest with a 71-36 overall record, the most wins by a football head coach at Evangel, set last season in a road win against Avila.

Evangel was picked to finish first in the Kessinger Division coaches and media poll. In the Bissell, McPherson was picked just slightly over Friends in the coaches poll, while the Falcons edged the Bulldogs in the media poll. Sterling was picked to finish last in the Bissell preseason coaches poll and media poll.

The Valor are ranked #19 in the preseason edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Rating. In the KCAC, Friends is tied for ninth, McPherson opened the season at #21, Southwestern sits at #22, and Kansas Wesleyan is currently receiving votes.

Evangel and Sterling match up for just the fourth time in program history, as Evangel looks to extend their 3-0 lead against the conference opponent. The Valor were victorious at home last season, 51-14.

After a strong performance last week, Broc Lyle sits 2nd all-time in receptions (151), 7th all-time in receiving touchdowns (23), and 10th in receiving yards (1,991) in school history.

Noah Bryant led the team in rushing yards last Saturday, finishing with 114 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Matt Allen led all QBs with a perfect pass completion rating (7-7) and 135 yards, tossing three touchdowns in the win.

Cullen Snow came away with a pair of interceptions last Saturday, moving his career total to six at Evangel.

Cody Voysey tied the school record set in 1997 and 1999 (Doug Volin) for extra points after Saturday's contest, going 10-10 in the win.

Evangel moved to 27-22-1 all-time in season-opening games after the 73-7 win last Saturday over Saint Mary.

Talon Stephens blocked Saint Mary's lone field goal attempt last Saturday, leading to a Jaden Lewis touchdown return.
