Evangel Women's Soccer Drops Road Matchup with Kansas Wesleyan

SALINA, Kan. – Valor Women's Soccer concluded their road trip on Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon, taking on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes in Salina, aiming to build off their draw with Avila on Wednesday. The Coyotes would find the back of the net on three different occasions, as the Valor were unable to score, falling 3-0 on Saturday.

After Evangel denied a trio of shots to open the first half, Eliza Barger recorded the first Valor shot of the match that the Kansas Wesleyan goalkeeper saved. The Coyotes would continue their shots on goal throughout the first half, as KWU scored their first goal of the contest at the 25:48 mark. Faith Joe would immediately follow the score with Evangel's final shot on goal in the game, but again, the KWU keeper earned the save, keeping EU scoreless at the halftime break, 1-0.

Evangel was unable to record a shot in the second half, as the Coyotes netted a pair of goals in the second half, distancing themselves on the scoreboard, as the Valor fell on the road, 3-0.

"Today's match was a tale of two halves. We competed very evenly during that first half and created some real chances. They were the better side overall and their possession and connection got the better of us in the second half," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "A few players saw bigger minutes today due to a couple of players getting nicked up during the game. I am 100% proud of this team for battling through some real challenges today."

Valor Women's Soccer will take a week off before returning to action on Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon against Bethany at home at noon.
