KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Evangel Men's Soccer traveled north to take on the Avila Eagles in Kansas City on Wednesday (Sept. 23) afternoon, aiming to build off their previous road win over McPherson on Saturday. 

The Valor came out with early offensive pressure, as Caleb Burton put the first shot on goal just four minutes into the contest. Just a minute and a half later, Hayes Van Breusegen earned a breakaway that he buried in the lower left hand corner of the goal, giving EU a 1-0 lead. Vasco Goncalves would add a pair of corners and a shot on goal, but Avila responded by tying the game up at the 27:31 mark of the first half, forcing both teams to take a 1-1 tie into the halftime break.

Evangel outshot Avila in the second half, 10-1, but was unable to put a shot in the back of the net in the period. Juyong Kim, Van Breusegen, Burton, and Goncalves all put shots on goal, but the Eagles keeper kept EU from scoring, as the Valor and Eagles finished Wednesday's contest with a 1-1 draw.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Hayes Van Breusegen recorded his second goal of the season in the draw.
