SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Men's Soccer returned home to open KCAC play on Wednesday (Sept. 16) night, taking on the top ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles. Needing an exceptional effort to stay competitive on Wednesday, the Valor battled, using strong defense to hold one of the top offenses in the NAIA to just three goals, falling 3-0 in fulltime.
Neither team was able to record a shot until the 19:00 minute mark, as OKWU's first shot went wide left. The Eagles would have other opportunities in the first half, but most ended up wide of the goal. Evangel battled and was able to get the ball into their attacking third on several occasions, but could not capitalize and earn a shot on goal. At the 38:41 mark, OKWU added their first goal of the game, taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Evangel again continued to battle on Wednesday, taking possession on several opportunities, but were again unable to get a shot off, as turnovers in the attacking part of the field limited shot opportunities. At the 56:43 mark, OKWU added their second goal of the contest and closed out scoring in the final minute of play, forcing EU to fall, 3-0.
