SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor XC opened their 2026 campaign on Friday (Sept. 11) night, competing at their home Queen City After Dark meet, running at the site of the future KCAC Conference Championship meet in November. Competing against several NCAA D-II and NAIA competitors, the Valor aimed to open the season with a strong start.

The Valor women recorded a ninth place team finish, beating out three other NAIA schools, led by a 44th place finish from Kadence Oehlschlager (19:46) in the 5k run, while Adriana McGregor (51st, 20:05) and newcomer Tessa Lovell (52nd, 20:06) rounded out Evangel's top three finishes on Friday.

The Valor men ran well on Friday, placing sixth as a team, ahead of every NAIA except one, behind a 16th place finish from Ethan Smith (18:59) in the 6k run. Newcomer Chance Cunningham and Blake Smith rounded out Evangel's top three finishers on Friday as Cunningham placed 19th with a time of 19:09 and Smith finished 20th with a time of 19:10.
