SALINA, Kan. – After earning three wins over the last two days, Evangel Softball advanced to the KCAC Conference Tournament Championship game against the #5-seeded Friends Falcons, aiming to earn their third consecutive conference tournament title against the Falcons.
The Valor would continue to keep their opponent off the scoreboard, dominating from the start of Friday's contest in a 8-0 run-rule win in six innings, taking the title for the third straight season.
NOTABLE

Maddy Meierer earned the win on Friday, striking out eight batters and earning her 24th win of the season, tying her school record she set last season.

Audrey Carlton continued her exceptional week of play, hitting a home run and recording five RBIs in the win.

Evangel did not allow a single run in the entire conference tournament (6-0 win vs Bethany, 1-0 win vs Friends, 8-0 wins vs OKWU and Friends).
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel got started early on Friday, as Kenna Mayfield singled and scored on a Natalie Morgan double. Morgan would score on a Carlton groundout to give the Valor a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Danielle Cutbirth walked, followed by a Mayfield single and Morgan walk to load the bases. Carlton quickly un-loaded the bases, hitting a double to score all three runners and extend EU's lead to 5-0.

Carlton continued her busy day by hitting a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning, giving EU a 6-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Evangel accomplished the run-rule win, as Hayleigh Shubert singled and Chloe Krans entered to run. Alaura Padgett worked a walk and Karla Ochoa entered to run. Morgan closed out the game with a double to center field, scoring both runners and giving the Valor a 8-0 win and the conference tournament title.

Evangel Softball will await for the NAIA National Tournament Selection Show on Wednesday (May 6) evening at 5:00 p.m., to find out where they will travel for the NAIA National Tournament Opening Rounds, with play beginning on May 11th.
