SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Baseball wrapped up their KCAC series with Southwestern on Sunday (Mar. 8) afternoon, looking to take the series with a win in the doubleheader.
The Valor dominated Sunday's first game, taking a 20-7 win over the Moundbuilders, before dropping the series finale, 8-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evan Jno-Baptiste doubled and Cade Beshore worked a walk, as Quentin Edwards singled to score Baptiste and Beshore scored on a Heath Perry single, making it a 2-0 game.

Southwestern scored a pair of runs to tie the game up at 2-2, heading into the third inning.

Evangel added four runs in the top of the third, as Edwards hit a double, H. Perry walked, and Gannon Miller singled to score Edwards. A throwing error on the catcher allowed H. Perry to score and a Baptiste double scored TJ Newman (running for Miller) and Kai Strasser, who walked, making it a 6-2 EU advantage.

Southwestern quickly tied the game up at 6-6, heading into the top of the fourth inning.

Edwards hit a home run, followed by a walk from Justus Cherrico and a single from H. Perry, both scoring on a Strasser double to take a 9-6 lead.

Beshore singled in the top of the fifth, scoring on a Cherrico single to take a 10-6 lead.

Miller doubled and Newman scored after running for Miller in the top of the 6th, 11-6.

Southwestern scored to trail by four runs, 11-7, into the top of the 7th inning.

Evangel scored nine unanswered runs in the 7th and 8th innings, earning a run-rule victory, 20-7, over Southwestern.

Nate Nunes tripled, scoring on a Beshore groundout to give EU a 1-0 lead in the final game of the day.

Southwestern tied the game up in the bottom of the first, 1-1.

In the top of the third, Beshore reached on a fielders choice, scoring on a Edwards double to give the Valor a 2-1 lead.

The Moundbuilders scored six runs in the bottom of the third and a run in the bottom of the fifth, to make it a 8-2 game in favor of Southwestern.

The Valor could not generate much additional offense, falling 8-2 in the finale.
NOTABLE

Owen Dobberstein earned the win in game one on Sunday, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing just one run and striking out four batters.

Quentin Edwards went 6-8 at the plate on Sunday, scoring four runs and driving in three RBIs.
