SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Softball honored their seniors and hosted the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on Saturday (Mar. 21) afternoon, aiming for their 12th and 13th consecutive wins of the season.
Evangel used timely scoring in game one to earn a 6-4 win, while Madi Bentley shut down the Coyotes, allowing just one hit in game two to take a 4-0 win and sweep of KWU.

Maddy Meierer earned the win against York, striking out seven batters and earning her 12th win of the season.

Madi Bentley built off her last outing, pitching another shutout and striking out five batters in her seventh win of the year.

Naomi Perkins led EU at the plate, going 4-8 with a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Kansas Wesleyan scored a run to open Saturday's contest to take an early 1-0 lead, before Natalie Morgan reached on an error, Audrey Carlton singled, and Karli Facklam tripled to give EU a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, Naomi Perkins singled and scored on a Morgan sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 EU lead.

After Chloe Krans worked a walk in the bottom of the fourth, Danielle Cutbirth tripled to bring the freshman home.

KWU added a run in the top of the sixth, but errors allowed Carlton and Facklam to score, giving EU a 6-2 lead.

The Coyotes scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to draw within two of EU's lead, but Maddy Meierer forced a fly out to left field to solidify EU's 6-4 win in game one.

Evangel did all their work in the first inning of game two, as Mayfield reached on an error, stealing second base, while Morgan walked and Lauren Dill roped a single to center field, giving EU a 1-0 lead. A Carlton double to left field scored Dill and Morgan, while Facklam wrapped up scoring with a single to shortstop, scoring Carlton and giving EU a 4-0 lead.

Madi Bentley had shut down stuff on Saturday, allowing just one hit through seven innings en route to a 4-0 shutout victory.
