BRANSON, Mo. – Valor Softball took on the Dakota State Trojans and the Missouri Valley Vikings on Wednesday (Mar. 11) afternoon, looking to take a pair of wins in Branson.
The Valor dominated their matchup with Dakota State, taking a 10-0 run-rule win over the Trojans, and concluded their Wednesday doubleheader with a Camryn Casey walk-off home run to defeat former Heart of America foe, Missouri Valley, 6-5.
NOTABLE

Maddy Meierer earned the win against Dakota State, striking out three batters and earning her tenth win of the season.

Bodie Smith earned her third win of the season against Missouri Valley, throwing just 0.1 inning but stranding the bases loaded in the top of the 7th.

Lauren Dill went 3-3 from the plate against Missouri Valley, while Danielle Cutbirth went 3-3 from the plate against Dakota State.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Kenna Mayfield singled to open the game against Dakota State, stealing second, advancing to third on a passed ball, and scoring on a Naomi Perkins sacrifice fly to give EU a 1-0 lead. Camryn Casey worked a walk, stole second, and scored on a Natalie Morgan single to put the Valor ahead, 2-0.

In the top of the second, Lauren Dill and Danielle Cutbirth both hit solo home runs, giving EU a 4-0 lead.

Evangel added five runs to their total in the top of the third, as Casey reached on an error, followed by a Morgan walk and a Audrey Carlton home run, making it a 7-0 ballgame. Chloe Krans also reached base on an error in the same inning, scoring on a Cutbirth single, while Mayfield doubled to score Cutbirth, giving EU a 9-0 lead.

Casey hit a home run to left field, giving EU a 10-0 lead they held to the finish, run-ruling the Trojans in five innings of play.

In the matchup with Missouri Valley, neither team scored until the bottom of the third, when Evangel's Mayfield singled, stole second, and scored on an error to give EU a 1-0 lead. Carlton and Casey both got on base via error, both scoring on a Holly Hanks double, followed by a Dill single to score Hanks, making it a 4-0 Valor lead.

Missouri Valley scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to trail Evangel, 4-2.

Neither team scored again until the seventh inning, when Missouri Valley was able to rally with just one out remaining, scoring three runs to lead EU 5-4, heading into the final chance for Evangel.

The Valor made quick work in the bottom of the seventh, as Naomi Perkins tripled and scored on another Casey home run, giving EU a walk-off 6-5 win over Missouri Valley.
