SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Baseball concluded their weekend series with UHSP on Saturday (Feb. 7) afternoon, looking to take the series and at minimum a split with the visiting Eutectics.
Evangel was victorious, 10-7, in game three on Saturday, but fell in the final matchup of the weekend, 7-2, earning a split with the UHSP Eutectics.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel and UHSP both had scoreless first and second innings of game one, but the Valor offense exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-0 lead.

Riley Summers worked a walk, while Heath Perry, Mason Reilly, and Kannon Perry were all hit by a pitch to score Summers. Quentin Edwards singled to score H. Perry, while Dylan Michaelson and Evan Jno-Baptiste both worked walks to score Reilly and K. Perry. A Cole Leonhart single scored both Edwards and Michaelson, while Matthew Olson hit a sacrifice fly to cap scoring, as Baptiste made it 7-0 in the third inning.

UHSP scored four runs to draw within three of the EU lead, 7-4.

Evangel added a trio of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 10-4 lead over the Eutectics.

Baptiste and Leonhart both singled, with Baptiste scoring on a passed ball and Leonhart scoring on a Riley Summers single. Summers came around to score on a H. Perry single, making it a 10-4 game.

UHSP was able to score three late runs, but it was too little, too late for the Eutectics, as EU took a 10-7 win in game three.

The Eutectics scored first in game four, taking a 1-0 lead, but the Valor responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, as H. Perry singled and scored on a Edwards ground out, while Braiden Whitaker scored on a wild pitch after working a walk in the inning.

Despite leading 2-1 early, Evangel could not generate any additional run scoring offense, ultimately falling after allowing six unanswered runs, 7-2.
