Strong Offensive Performance Pushes EU Baseball to 10-1 Win over Bethany

LINDSBORG, Kan. – Evangel Baseball opened a three game KCAC series with Bethany on Friday, taking on the Swedes in a nine-inning matchup.

Evangel's offense took advantage of mistakes from Bethany, as well as recorded 13 base hits in a 10-1 win over the Swedes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Evan Jno-Baptiste opened Friday's contest with a base hit, stealing both second and third and scoring on an errant throw from the catcher. Heath Perry immediately followed up Baptiste's run with a home run to left field, taking a 2-0 lead.

  • In the bottom of the third, Bethany scored a run to cut Evangel's lead in half, 2-1.

  • Cade Beshore singled to open the fourth inning, scoring on a Justus Cherrico single to take a 3-1 lead. An error allowed Cherrico to score to give EU a 4-1 advantage.

  • Evangel added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning, as Quentin Edwards and Cherrico both singled, both scoring on a Kannon Perry single to make it a 6-1 ballgame.

  • In the top of the seventh inning, the Valor offense added another three runs, as K. Perry singled and scored on an error, while Mason Reilly scored on a Baptiste single. Baptiste came around to score on a Nate Nunes single and H. Perry sacrifice bunt, making it a 9-1 ballgame.

  • Cherrico closed out Friday's game with a solo blast, capping off EU's 10-1 win over Bethany.

NOTABLE

  • Justus Cherrico led EU at the plate, going 3-4 with a pair of RBIs and a trio of runs on Friday.

  • Heath Perry hit his first home run of the season in Friday's win.

  • The trio of Isaac Daley, Brock Wycoff, and Cooper Wilken all pitched well on Friday, as Daley earned the win, going six innings with six strikeouts.

NEXT UP

Evangel Baseball concludes their series with Bethany on Saturday (Feb. 28) afternoon, with first pitch set for 11:00 a.m. from Lindsborg, Kansas.
