HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Williams Baptist scored early on Tuesday, taking a 2-0 lead over Evangel in the second inning, as a windy day aided the Eagles.

  • In the top of the fourth, Audrey Carlton worked a walk and scored with Camryn Casey, after an error from the Eagles third baseman tied the game at 2-2.

  • With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Kenna Mayfield hit a single, stole second base, and scored on a Naomi Perkins single, giving the Valor a 3-2 lead.

  • In the bottom of the seventh, Evangel overcame a pair of errors to get out of a jam, solidifying the 3-2 win in game one.

  • Evangel's best opportunity in game two came in the top of the sixth, as Perkins and Addison Whitmire both singled and advanced into scoring position, but were unable to score, ultimately falling game two, 1-0.

  • Madi Bentley struck out seven and allowed just four hits in EU's narrow loss.
