KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Evangel Baseball traveled to Kansas City on Tuesday (Feb. 24) afternoon, taking on the Avila Eagles for a nine-inning KCAC matchup.
The Valor were able to score six runs, never trailing on Tuesday in a 6-5 win, recording 15 hits over the Avila Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evan Jno-Baptiste doubled to left center field to open the first inning, scoring on a Quentin Edwards sacrifice fly in the inning.

In the following inning, Justus Cherrico ripped a home run to left field, doubling Evangel's lead to 2-0.

Avila tied the game in the bottom of the second, 2-2.

Evangel re-took the lead in the top of the fourth, as Baptiste hit a home run to right center field, 3-2.

Just two innings later, Baptiste again ripped a home run, this time to left field to score Mason Reilly, who had singled to get on base, 5-2.

Avila countered with a two-run home run of their own in the bottom of the sixth, but remained down on the scoreboard, 5-4.

In the top of the seventh, Edwards ripped a triple to left field, scoring on a Cherrico single to add to EU's lead, 6-4.

The Eagles were able to hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little, too late for Avila, as the Valor took a 6-5 win on Tuesday.
NOTABLE

Evan Jno-Baptiste led Evangel in RBIs with three on Tuesday, hitting a pair of home runs to lead the Valor.

Justus Cherrico continued his power hitting on Tuesday, hitting another home run in the 6-5 win.

Brayden Epperhart earned his second win of the season, striking out a trio of batters on Tuesday.

Mason Reilly pitched well in relief, earning his second save of the season while striking out four batters and allowing just one hit.
