SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Baseball concluded their KCAC series with (RV) Ottawa on Friday and briefly on Saturday, looking to build off their previous win on Thursday afternoon.
In game two on Thursday, the Valor led early, but Ottawa was able to rally in the eighth and ninth innings, as EU fell, 13-10. In the final game of the series, Evangel was unable to put forth enough offense to keep up with the Braves, falling on Friday after play was suspended on Thursday, 9-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Ottawa scored a pair of runs in the first inning, leading Evangel 2-0.

The Valor quickly responded, taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Evan Jno-Baptiste was hit by a pitch, while Drew Dobberstein walked. Heath Perry hit a single to score Baptiste, while Dobberstein and Perry earned a double steal, with Drew scoring on a wild pitch. A Cade Beshore single scored Perry, making it a 3-2 ballgame.

Mason Reilly singled in the second inning, scoring on a Baptiste single to double their lead, 4-2.

Ottawa tied the game up in the top of the third, 4-4.

Evangel used the long ball in the bottom of the third, as Quentin Edwards hit a home run to left center field, followed by a Cade Beshore double and home run from Justus Cherrico to give the Valor a 7-4 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Ottawa scored a pair of runs to trail, 7-6.

The Valor offense added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 10-6. H. Perry doubled, followed by Cherrico being hit by a pitch. Nate Nunes worked a walk, as Perry scored on a passed ball. Cole Leonhart singled through the left side, scoring Cherrico, while Reilly ripped a double to left field, scoring Nunes in the inning.

After holding the Braves scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings, Ottawa scored seven unanswered runs, forcing Evangel to fall, 13-10.

Evangel took an early 1-0 lead in game three, as Baptiste, D. Dobberstein, and H. Perry all walked. A ground out scored Baptiste to make it a 1-0 ballgame.

Ottawa took advantage of walks in the second inning, taking a 4-1 lead over the Valor.

Neither team scored again until the top of the fifth inning, while Ottawa extended their lead to 5-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Leonhart worked a walk, followed by a Nunes single, and Kannon Perry used a groundout to score Leonhart making it a 5-2 game.

The Braves added three runs in the top of the sixth and a run in the top of the seventh to lead EU, 9-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Beshore reached base on an error, followed by a Kai Strasser walk and a Matthew Olson single to score Beshore, making it a 9-3 ballgame. The Valor were unable to stretch any additional runs across on Saturday, falling 9-3.
