WINFIELD, Kan. -- Evangel Women's Basketball hit the road on Wednesday (Jan. 7) evening, taking on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders in their first road game of 2026. A dominant all-around effort highlighted by a stellar defensive second quarter where Southwestern scored just four points, led to a 98-44 Evangel win over the Moundbuilders.

The Valor blitzed Southwestern early, jumping out to a 20-3 lead as Ali Kamies, Carson Dillard, and Cassidy Hambelton led EU in scoring. Southwestern was able to close the quarter out on a 11-7 run as the Valor led 27-14 at the end of the period.

The difference maker in Wednesday's game proved to be a dominant effort in the second quarter, as the Moundbuilders scored just four points in the period (12.5 shooting %). Dillard continued to push the offensive pace for EU, while Ellison Mehrhoff scored a pair of baskets off the bench, helping the Valor take a 52-18 halftime lead.

Brooklyn Kearbey had an exceptional third quarter of play, scoring nine points on 4-4 shooting, helping the Valor continue to distance themselves on the scoreboard. Kearbey scored the final basket of the period for Evangel, giving EU a 75-29 lead heading into Wednesday's final quarter.

Evin Montgomery nailed a pair of three pointers in the fourth quarter and scored the layup that gave EU their largest lead of the night, 98-42, as Evangel came away from Winfield with a 98-44 win on Wednesday.
