Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Evangel Women's Basketball returned to action on Saturday (Jan. 3) afternoon, taking on the McPherson Bulldogs in KCAC play. The Valor continued their streak of dominant playing, eclipsing the century mark in their sixth game this season, defeating the Bulldogs, 108-50.

Ali Kamies opened Saturday's game by helping pace the Valor offense, scoring 10 points in the first quarter, as the Nixa native shot 5-6 from the floor in the period. The Valor defense made sure McPherson could not find any offensive rhythm, opening the game with an 18-0 run, as the Bulldogs could not score until the 5:40 mark. Lydia Babirye closed scoring for EU in the quarter, hitting a three pointer as the Valor led 23-8 at the end of the first period.

A Carson Dillard three pointer opened the second quarter, as Evangel scored 29 points in the period, matching their highest in a quarter on Saturday (3rd quarter). Dillard took over offensively, leading the Valor charge as EU jumped out to as large as a 32-point lead before halftime. A free throw from Ashton Bell made it a 52-23 lead for the Valor at the break.

Another 29 point quarter for Evangel helped distance the Valor from the Bulldogs, as a Kamie Jenkins basket late in the period gave EU a 48-point lead, 81-33. Brooklyn Kearbey went 3-3 from the floor in the quarter, as the Valor continued to run away from the Bulldogs.

The pair of Fair Grove natives, Ashton Bell and Brooke Daniels, shot a combined 5-5 from the floor to help lead EU in the fourth quarter, and a three pointer from Emily Recker in her first game of the season gave EU a 108-45 lead, their largest of the game (63 points). McPherson closed the game out on a 5-0 run, but the damage had been done, as EU took a 108-50 win on Saturday, their 10th straight.
