Valor Men's Basketball Announces 2025-26 Signings

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Head Men's Basketball Coach Bert Capel announced another talented recruiting class on Thursday, adding commitments from five high school standouts and three collegiate transfers for the 2025-26 season.

The 2025 class is made up of talent from Missouri and Oklahoma.

"After losing five seniors to graduation, we wanted to add some experience with this year's class. Not only did we add some experience for this upcoming season, but we also added players we feel will also be the future of Evangel basketball." EU head coach Bert Capel stated.

Game times and dates for the 2025 season will be announced at a later date in August.

Below are biographies of the recruits: 

Drew McMillin

Guard // 6-0, 175 // Republic, Mo. // Transfer from Southwest Baptist

Highlights:

  • 2022 GLVC Regular Season Champions

  • 3rd Team GLVC All-Conference

  • Central Ozark Conference Player of the Year ('21)

  • 2x MBCA 1st Team All-State ('20, '21)

  • MSHSAA record for most 3-pointers made in one game (16)

  • Republic HS All-Time record holders for 3-pointers in career (265), points in a game (61) and 3-pointers in a game (16)


Jacob Lafferty

Forward // 6-5, 220 // Sparta, Mo. // Transfer from Colorado State - Pueblo

Highlights:

  • Played in 19 games at CSU-Pueblo (started 15, averaging 6.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 53.8% fg)

  • 2024 District Champions (Sparta)

  • Sparta HS all-time leading scorer (2,412) and rebounder (1,238)

  • Conference & District Player of the Year ('23, '24)

  • 2x MBCA 1st Team All-State ('23, '24)

  • 4x 1st Team All-Conference & All-District ('21-'24)


Tommy Pinegar

Highlights:

Connor Hislop
