SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Evangel Men's Basketball returned to action on Monday (Nov. 3) evening, taking on the Faith Baptist Eagles in AGFinancial Arena. The Valor jumped out to a big advantage early on Monday and never looked back, taking a dominant 98-63 win over the Eagles.
The Evangel offense jumped out to a big lead early, going on a 15-0 run with a pair of three pointers from Tommy Pinegar and a three from Isaac Wootton to pace scoring. Faith Baptist scored five points to slow Evangel's run, but Harrison Doennig began to get hot from the floor, scoring a three and layup to extend the EU lead to 23-5. Luke Foster went 2-2 over the final eight minutes of play and buried four free throws to help Evangel continue to extend their lead and late in the first half, a Doennig rebound gave the redshirt junior a double-double in the first half alone, as EU led, 54-27, at the break.
All players earned time in the second half, as Clayton Garrison led the Valor in the second half, scoring 10 points. Pinegar opened the second half with a three pointer, followed by back-to-back baskets from Garrison. The Valor continued to force the Eagles to turn the ball over, as a run out on a Jordyn Turner steal led to a slam to give EU their largest lead of the night, 93-52, with 6:09 remaining in the game. Paxton Ledbetter and Ryder Rowden scored their first collegiate baskets late in the second half, as Evangel came away with a 98-63 win on Monday.
