-
Madi Bentley took win number nine of the season in game two, allowing just two hits and striking out eight batters in the 5-2 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Maddy Meierer opened Tuesday by striking out the first three batters, setting the pace for a strong day for Evangel.
-
In the top of the third, Evangel broke through on the scoreboard, using a Karlie Romines double to score both Kenna Mayfield and Naomi Perkins, after Mayfield doubled and Perkins worked a walk.
-
Meierer continued to keep Avila off balance offensively and Evangel added four runs in the top of the sixth to solidify the 6-0 victory. Karli Facklam and Camryn Casey both singled and a Kristyn Ramos double scored K. Facklam. Casey came around to score on a Mayfield single and a Perkins triple scored Ramos and Mayfield to close out scoring in the game one win.
-
In game two, Madi Bentley was tasked with keeping the Avila offense at bay. Bentley did just that, throwing six innings of scoreless ball, as Evangel scored a pair of runs in the third and in the fifth. Danielle Cutbirth tripled and scored on a Mayfield single, while a Perkins double scored Mayfield. In the fifth, Cutbirth and Mayfield continued their streak of offense, scoring on an Ellie Facklam double after both singled to give EU a 4-0 lead.
-
Casey hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to push the Valor ahead, 5-0.
-
Avila finally broke through on the scoreboard in the seventh inning, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles, as EU took a 5-2 win and sweep of the home team.
QUOTABLE
"Today was a fun day at the ballpark. We have incredible young ladies and we are blessed when we know and remember who we are out there playing for. It's so great to be a part of this ministry to reach others on the ball field," head coach Jay Halbrook stated. "The pitching and defense all day was outstanding. We kept things going our way and let our offense catch up. It's fun watching this team create a greater platform for itself to give praise on."
