STERLING, Kan. – Evangel Baseball concluded their road series on Monday (Apr. 7) afternoon, looking to try and take a win or two against Sterling after falling in the series opener on Sunday.
The Valor struggled to contain the Warriors offense on Monday, allowing 21 combined runs to score, ultimately falling in both games, 12-5 and 9-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Sterling took the first run of game two, but the Valor responded in the top of the second with a run of their own. Heath Perry doubled and scored on a Parker Ellifritz single to tie the game at 1-1.

Sterling took a 4-1 lead over EU in the bottom of the second inning.

Brenden Coffindaffer singled and scored on a Cade Beshore single in the fourth inning to make it a 4-2 ballgame.

The Warriors matched EU's run in the bottom of the fourth, while Evangel added an additional run in the top of the fifth when Clay Palen singled to score Rhett Hayward, who was courtesy running for Kannon Perry.

Sterling added a pair of runs in fifth inning to hold a 7-3 lead over the Valor.

Ellifritz singled and scored on a K. Perry single, but Sterling again scored in the following half inning to make it a 8-4 ballgame.

Four Warriors runs in the bottom of the seventh pushed the home team out to a 12-4 lead. Evangel scored a fifth and final run in the eighth inning, as Ellifritz singled and scored on a Evan Baptiste sacrifice fly, falling 12-5 in game two of the series.

Shane Poe singled in the top of the first, scoring on a Justice Loflin single.

Sterling scored nine unanswered runs after EU took a 1-0 lead, forcing the Valor to fall 9-1 in the finale.

Parker Ellifritz and Clay Palen both went 3-3 in games two and three, respectively.
