NOTABLE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Evangel plated a run in the bottom of the first to take an early lead over Bethel. Kenna Mayfield hit a bunt single and scored on a Ellie Facklam double to push EU ahead 1-0.

  • In the bottom of the second inning, Evangel's bats came alive, scoring six runs to take a 7-0 lead. After two quick outs in the inning, Danielle Cutbirth doubled and scored on a Naomi Perkins single. Mayfield worked a walk and scored after her steal of third and a throwing error from the catcher. Another E. Facklam double scored Perkins and a Karlie Romines single scored Facklam. Riley Johannes would crush a ball over the right field fence to extend the EU lead to 7-0, scoring Romines on the batted ball.

  • Evangel added five runs in the third inning, as Cutbirth doubled to open the inning. After Perkins worked a walk, Ellie Facklam doubled to score both runners. Romines got in on the long ball action in the inning, hitting a bomb to left field to score Facklam. Back-to-back doubles from Johannes and Karli Facklam gave EU their 12-0 lead over Bethel.

  • Bethel scored just one run in the fourth inning as the Valor shut down the Thresher offense en route to a 12-1 five inning win.

  • Mayfield used her speed to help give EU an early 1-0 lead in game two, hitting a single to the pitcher, stealing second base, and scoring on a E. Facklam single.

  • Evangel added a pair of runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead over Bethel. K. Facklam opened the inning with a single, scoring on a Casey triple. Casey scored on a Cutbirth single to close scoring in the inning.

  • Romines opened the third inning with her second left field home run of the afternoon. K. Facklam tripled and scored on a Bethel error, scoring on a Cutbirth sacrifice fly. After Lauren Dill doubled, Mayfield singled to score the fourth run of the inning, pushing EU out to a 7-0 lead.

  • In the bottom of the fourth, E. Facklam singled and scored on a Romines double. Johannes followed Romines at bat up with another home run to right field, giving EU a 10-0 lead over the Threshers.

  • Bethel scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning on Wednesday, but could not score enough to stave off the run rule, as EU took a 10-2 victory and sweep of the Threshers.
