SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Softball hosted the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Tuesday (Mar. 11) afternoon, looking to open their conference slate on a positive note.
The Valor dominated on Tuesday, earning a pair of run rule wins in just an hour and 41 minutes of combined play time, 10-0 and 8-0, respectively.

Maddy Meierer moved to 9-1 on Tuesday with the win in game two, lowering her season ERA to 0.37.

Sarah Wilkinson had an efficient game one, throwing just 28 pitches in the five inning win, moving to 2-1 on the year.

Karlie Romines had a strong day on offense, finishing with four RBIs and four runs scored for the Valor.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel scored in every inning in game one. Kenna Mayfield singled to left center to open the game and scored on a Naomi Perkins single to put EU ahead, 1-0. A Karlie Romines double scored Perkins and Romines came around to score on a Riley Johannes groundout, extending the EU lead to 3-0.

Sarah Wilkinson pitched back-to-back three pitch innings in the 2nd and 3rd, while EU scored runs in both innings, using a Camryn Casey double and Mayfield single to give the Valor a 4-0 lead. Ellie Facklam singled to open the third inning and scored on a Romines double before the catcher scored on a Karli Facklam single. K. Facklam scored on a Lauren Dill sacrifice fly, giving EU a 7-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Mayfield was hit by a pitch and E. Facklam singled to get on base. A Reagan Jenkins single scored Mayfield, while a Kristyn Ramos fielders choice scored E. Facklam. Autumn Nold laced a single on the left field foul line to score Johannes, who was hit by a pitch to get on base, making it a 10-0 Evangel lead.

Wilkinson recorded the last two outs of the fifth en route to EU's 10-0 game one victory.

The Valor offense scored a pair of runs in the first inning of game two, taking advantage of a Southwestern error to take a 2-0 lead.

Maddy Meierer limited the Moundbuilder offense, allowing just two hits and striking out nine batters to keep Southwestern off the scoreboard.

Despite not scoring in the second or third inning, Evangel racked off six runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. An error allowed K. Facklam to reach base, while Casey tripled to score Facklam. A Dill double scored Casey, followed by a Danielle Cutbirth double and Mayfield sacrifice fly to score Dill. E. Facklam hit a triple and Romines hit a home run to end EU's scoring, solidifying Evangel's 8-0 win.
