BRANSON, Mo. – Valor Softball returned to action on Monday (Feb. 24) afternoon, taking part in the Turf's Up Invitational in Branson.
Evangel used a pair of strong performances from the circle on Monday to take a 6-0 win against Hannibal-LaGrange and a 3-0 win against Cottey, allowing just two hits in each game behind complete game gems from Sarah Wilkinson and Maddy Meierer.

Hannibal-LaGrange recorded the first hit of Monday's contest, but Wilkinson quickly settled in and pitched five hitless innings to the Trojans.

Evangel got on the board in the top of the fifth, after Lauren Dill was hit by a pitch and Kristyn Ramos tripled to center field to give EU a 1-0 lead.

EU did not stop in the fifth inning, as Ramos scored on a Kenna Mayfield double and Mayfield came around to score on a Naomi Perkins double, making it a 3-0 game.

The Valor added a trio of insurance runs in the final inning, with Perkins opening the inning with a single. An Ellie Facklam double scored Perkins and Facklam stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Camryn Casey doubled to center field and scored on a Karli Facklam double, making it a 6-0 ballgame.

Wilkinson allowed just one hit in the seventh inning as EU cruised to a 6-0 win against the Trojans.

The Valor took on the Comets in game two, looking to take a win against the team that ended their previous season.

Evangel took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after Hayleigh Shubert walked and scored on a Perkins single to center field.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ellie Facklam doubled to center field and scored on a Karli Facklam single, making it a 2-0 game.

The very next inning, Mayfield singled and stole second, scoring on a Ellie Facklam single to center field, putting Evangel ahead 3-0.

Maddy Meierer continued her strong day, not allowing a run in the game as EU took a 3-0 win.
UP NEXT
Evangel will conclude the Turf's Up Tournament in Branson on Tuesday, taking on Mission at 12:30 p.m. and Crowley's Ridge at 2:30 p.m.
