OTTAWA, Kan. -- Evangel Women's Basketball hit the road on Wednesday (Dec. 10) evening, taking on the Ottawa Braves in their final road KCAC matchup before Christmas break. The Valor kept the offense rolling on Wednesday, hitting the century mark in their third consecutive game to earn their eighth straight win, 102-73.

Ottawa scored the first points of the contest, but Evangel quickly responded, using a three pointer from Carson Dillard to open a 18-4 run, with nine points coming from Ali Kamies. A Kamie Jenkins basket closed out scoring for EU, resulting in a 28-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Valor scored 23 in the second period, their lowest scoring output in a quarter, as the Braves would outscore EU by a pair of points, making it a 51-38 Evangel lead at the halftime break. EU would shoot 50 percent in the quarter, but Ottawa finished with a 12 free throw advantage to help cut into the Valor lead.

A Ottawa three pointer with just over seven minutes remaining in the third quarter cut Evangel's lead to 10 points, 56-46, before Kamies, Heaven Shockley, and Cassidy Hambelton used baskets to re-extend their lead out to 17. Another Jenkins basket closed out the period, with EU on top, 76-59.

Evangel used a dominant fourth quarter where they scored 26 points, holding Ottawa to just 14 to take their largest lead of the evening (30 pts.). Shockley added eight points to her total in the final quarter, helping the Valor take their eighth consecutive win, 102-73, on the road.

"I thought we did a great job recognizing Ottawa's defensive changes and adapting to them today," stated head coach Madi Wallace. "I'm very proud of the way we shared the ball and executed!"

NOTABLE 

• Heaven Shockley led EU with 24 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks in the win.

• Cassidy Hambelton led Evangel with 11 assists and six steals in the win.

• Ali Kamies (16 pts.), Hambelton (13 pts.), Carson Dillard (13 pts.), Brooklyn Kearbey (11 pts.) and Kamie Jenkins (11 pts.), rounded out double digit scoring for Evangel.

• Evangel shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the win.
