SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Volleyball returned home on Saturday (Nov. 1) morning, taking on the Tabor College Bluejays in their penultimate home matchup of the regular season. The Valor would dominate in Saturday's contest, taking a sweep of the Bluejays to earn their 28th win of the season.
Evangel dominated set one, taking an early 11-2 lead over Tabor with several attacking errors from the Bluejays aiding Evangel's lead. Tabor would draw within seven points of the Valor lead, but more Tabor errors pushed EU to a 25-12 win in set one.
Tabor and Evangel played a tight set two, as neither team could earn more than a two point lead until late in the set. Trailing 20-19, Charlotte Hawkins recorded a kill to tie the game up, and a pair of Bella Wakley kills, paired with Tabor attacking errors late gave EU a 25-21 win.
A 9-1 opening run from EU in the third and final set proved to be the difference in the sweep, as Tabor couldn't do much offensively and Evangel would record 17 kills in the set, with several coming from senior Vivianna Sanchez. Evangel took a 25-15 win in the final set of play, moving to 28-3 on the year.Â
